Mary Swanzy Retrospective at Imma 2018

Great Modern Master on show later this year.

Mary Swanzy (1882 - 1978)

The first Modernist painter in Ireland (she saw Picasso's early cubist work in 1905/6 in Paris at Gertrude Stein's) Mary Swanzy predated both Evie Hone and Mainie Jellet.
However, she left Ireland to travel in Haiwai, the Balkans and Samoa, settling in the UK and as she refused to stick to one style she was side-lined to some extent.

Imma (Irish Museum of Modern Art) are doing a Retrospective of her work in October 2018 to February 2019. More details at Imma.
